theory and practice do not have to bite as it was last summer, organized by Dresdner literature students reading with Raoul Schrott, which was kindly supported by the Culture House Loschwitz and the German Literature Fund. Even beyond the year of the humanities, it is the students who help shape the cultural and literary life of Dresden, which is why they invite this time for reading with Ulrike Draesner.
Ulrike Draesner metaphorical language combines lyrical and realistic writing. This is particularly noticeable in her novels, which easily sometimes the boundaries between genres like a spotlight, flowing style of speech can be blurred. The reading will therefore present both her poetry and her prose work. As a result, the award-winning author reads from her unpublished poem cycle "Damascus maneuver" based on the collected impressions during her Syria trip in 2006 and will appear shortly limited. This deals with the policies of Israel and Palestine, tried to question the significance of this conflict on the living conditions of the population. Thematically, the author leads to the Roman "games" from which she will read both gone. For "Games" is reminiscent of an early document this conflict: the kidnapping and murder of Israeli athletes at the Olympic Summer Games in Munich in 1972. The audience must not only look forward to a previously unknown text by Ulrike Draesner, but also to a reading which will contribute to their political relevance to the conversation and discussion.

6th Joint seminar with Ulrike Draesner (9 January, 9.20 - 10.50 clock, TU Dresden, BEY/149)
Chair: Christian Baumann, Daniel Rose
